Is your USB drive seems corrupted? Does the size of your Pendrive from GBs is reduced to MBs? Don't worry! Let us fix this by using the command prompt step by step.

  1. Open Command Prompt and Run as Administrator
  2. Type the command diskpart in the Command Prompt window. It’ll launch the command-line version of the Disk Utility program.

3. Type in the command list disk to view all the disks attached to your computer. Your USB drive will be one of these disks.

As you can see, Disk 2 ( My 8 GB PenDrive) is showing 7680 MB. Let’s fix this drive by selecting and running the operation on the drive.

4. Type select disk X ( Please select number X accordingly, here X=2) check which disk is your USB flash drive.

5. Now, clean command to clean up the drive.

If you encounter an error of access denied. Right-click on your drive,
Select Properties -> Sharing Tab -> Advanced Sharing -> Check Share this folder -> Permissions -> Full Control.

Press Ok to save changes. Again run the command clean. And Voila!!!

6. When the drive is cleaned, it’s time to create new partitions. Type the command create partition primary.

7. Now, format the drive to FAT32 format, command format fs=fat32 quick

If you prefer other file system formats, change the command fat32 to the desired one such as ntfs, exfat, etc. Once the drive is formatted, unplug it and again plug it back in. Now you can check and use the full capacity of your Pendrive.
